There are a number of factors affecting the score your achieve in iNCLINE. To achieve the very highest scores you need to make sure you are taking advantage of all tricks at your disposal. Here is the information you'll need to get the very highest highscores.

Speed
As you pass each gate, your speed is increased a little. The faster you're moving when you pass a gate, the more points you'll score. If you lose a life, you'll start off again from a slightly reduced speed - this might help you out in the short term but you won't be scoring as many points for each gate until you get back to the same speed.

Level
As you advance through each level, you'll score more points for each gate as the level number is a direct multiplier for the points received. Additionally, the number of gates per level increases with two new gates being added for each level increase. A greater number of gates means more points per level.

Difficulty Level
The difficulty level you play on makes a difference - you'll score many more points on the iNSANE difficulty level than you'll score on Rookie, so try to work your way up the difficulty levels as you get used to playing the game and become familiar with the controls.

Pickups
Don't avoid the pickups! While you may worry about getting certain pickups when things are fast and you're heading for a highscore, you'll score more points while these pickups are in effect. For example when Blur, Shrink or Warp is happening you'll score twice as many points for passing each gate as normal. Similarly some pickups like Slow and Tunnel may aid your chances of getting through the gates. Remember too that every pickup offers a chance of receiving an extra life, so that's an additional reason to go for them.

Accuracy
Each of the gates has a centre area that will be marked with a spinning core as you approach it. If you're within this centre marker as you pass through, you will be awarded additional points and the nearer the centre, the more points that will be awarded. It's possible to almost double the points for passing each gate if you are especially accurate.

Sustained Accuracy
Bonus multipliers come into play if you can maintain accuracy. Get five gate centres in a row and you will be awarded a bonus equal to 10% of your present score. Get ten gate centres in a row and you'll receive a bonus equal to 50% of your present score. Get 15 gate centres in a row and you'll double your present score! Sustained accuracy is difficult but it's the route to super high scores. Note that centre counts are not preserved across levels so these bonuses are only possible on levels with a sufficient number of gates.

Perfect Runs
If you're able to hit dead centre on every gate in a level excepting bonus levels (see below), then you will be awarded a Perfect Run bonus. This will greatly increase your score!

Bonus Levels
Every five levels you will encounter a bonus level. These are an opportunity to take a breather as your speed will slow down for the duration of the level and the gates are all of one type with large centre markers, making it easier to rack up some points. Be sure and maintain your accuracy on these levels - it really helps with high scores. Please note that Perfect Run and Sustained Accuracy bonuses are unfortunately not present on Bonus Levels - that would just be too easy!
